Meet Nikki
Hello, I’m Nikki.
About Me
I am a qualified counsellor with a background in nursing, physical rehabilitation, and psychotherapy. My working life has been devoted to supporting people’s physical and emotional well-being, often during times of vulnerability, change, or distress.
To be honest for a long time, I didn’t know who I really was beneath the surface. I became an expert in wearing masks, showing people what I thought they wanted to see, hiding the parts of me that felt too messy, too complicated, too much. I lost touch with myself trying to fit into spaces that were never built for me.
My counselling training challenged and changed me — both professionally and personally. It’s been a long and deeply personal journey of unlearning, healing, and becoming. I’ve come to understand how powerful it is to have a space where you don’t have to perform, explain, or justify.
I have personally experienced trauma so I know just how complex and painful those experiences can be and how much strength it takes to hold them. But I also know that healing is possible. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it.
I live with a chronic illness which gives me a personal connection to the emotional weight that can come with life with a disability. I have a special interest in working with people who live with chronic or neurological illnesses and understand how lonely and frustrating those experiences can be, particularly when you’re not believed, understood or even being gas lit by the medical system.
I’m also neuro- divergent aware and regularly support clients with ADHD.
You won’t find perfection here – but you will find a human being who’s done a lot of work on themselves, who gets what it’s like to feel lost or unseen, and who believes fiercely in your right to take up space exactly as you are.
I know how hard it can feel to open up to people (let alone a complete stranger like me!). That’s why I’m all about making therapy feel less clinical and more human.
